Bomb Shelter Noel

Here's a piece I created for Playboy magazine. The short story is titled "Bomb Shelter Noel" and was written by Thom Jones. It's a holiday story about a 16 year old girl who is type 1 diabetic and also has hyperglycemic unawareness. She hosts her own radio show out of her bomb shelter basement, where she speaks about survival techniques, her love of astronomy, and plays classical music. Floating in the painting around her are things from the story...her goldfish, the dialysis machine, a friend who also does dialysis and is a stripper, and the warm coat she wants to buy for herself at goodwill. The full story will be published in the Dec issue of Playboy.

Jet Man Guy is rad

I really like this Fusion of Man and Bird. He goes by Fusion Man or Jet Man. His name is Yves Rossy and he's a Swiss pilot, aviator and inventor. He flies around mountains with wings that have Jets attached to them. The wings he claims are a prototype and he can't fly too far of long. In 2006 he had his first flight and in 2008 he crossed the English channel at 189 mph. See more here: www.jet-man.com I think he's planning on jumping the grand canyon soon.

I like the idea that the kingdom of god has been spread upon earth and men choose not to see it. As opposed to being a place you get to go once you die. Perhaps heaven it's a state of mind. I think we create our own reality. I'm thinking of making a t-shirt of this.

sketches of my suburban childhood days

These drawings were made at my friend Skot's house in santa monica while i was trying to communicate visions of my youth about a year ago. I just saw them again and thought about sharing them. My dad built my brothers and I a fort in the corner of our backyard called "Fort Apache". It was a simple fort with an upper level floor and a slide. We had a wood burned sign above the door and a cloth white flag.
The second drawing is of the wash that ran through the housing development. It became our portal to the wild outside world of dirt roads, bamboo forests and giant trees.

Nightfur Film and Music News

Nightfur the Movie News-
You can now view the trailer to the film Nightfur at Nightfur.com! I think it looks pretty amazing. Jason and Jeter have been workin steadily and now we all have a sample of how this indie film is going to look and sound! I'm listed as production designer but I must share the credit with Jason, Jeter, Tom and Crieghton. Everyone played a huge part...including Jana my fiance, she plays Helen! I'm starting to work on the Poster for the film. I'll post it once its finished.

Nightfur Music News-
After the creation of the second nightfur album "Blue Planet" Jason and I have been rehearsing with a new bass player Drew Jorgenson, and are going to be playing a few shows in Feb and March 09: -- Wed. 2-11-09 9pm at 3 Clubs, Hollywood. -- and Thurs. 3-18-09 8:30pm at Silverlake Lounge. We'll be playing songs from both albums.

Portrait Paintings

In the last few months I created 2 new portrait paintings. Both portraits were painted using oil paint on panel. The first is a portrait of Kylie and Danielle. It measures 16 x 20 inches. I photographed the sisters toward the end of winter at their home in Beverly hills. My wife Jana is the girls' nanny.
The second painting is a portrait of the children of Mark Burnett and Roma Downey-Burnett. I photographed the children in the early part of June at their home in Malibu. The finished painting measures 24 x 36 inches. I was lucky to have my older brother Scott assist me with the photography. You can find Scott's website on my links list. Nightfur the band

Hey everybody, if you haven't already heard, I am playing drums in a band called Nightfur! Nightfur was formed in late 2006 with Jason Brown and Skot Gillies. In 2007 we started playing shows in and around Los Angeles. Venues you may find us playing include Spaceland, El Cid, Pehrspace, and Bordello. In late Summer of 07 we self released a full length album with 14 original songs entitled "She Lives". We are now selling the CD for $5.
